I have traced my wife's family to Ireland/England and have hit a brick wall. 

Here is what I know:
Patrick Coleman was born in Ireland around 1820 (per 1870 U.S. Cenus).  He emigrated in 1836 (per NARA # M237, Roll 30, List 489, pg 525 - 526)  He then lived in New York.  I can't find data on where in England/Ireland he began his journey to America.  Any help would be appreciated.  Everyone else in the family has been stuck at this point far longer than I have.
